Subject: Accelrys ® GCG 11 is now available along with latest databases
GCG (Genetics Computer Group) suite of tools has been upgraded to the latest version.
It is designed to meet the sequence analysis needs of molecular biologists, bioinformaticians, and others wanting a complete package for analyzing DNA, RNA and primary protein sequence. The following features are the highlights of the new version:
-
The updated programs (‘plus programs’) can utilize sequences in FASTA, GenBank, EMBL and other common formats, eliminating the need to convert sequences into GCG format
-
It has updated key algorithms, including PAUP (a phylogenetic analysis program), MEME (used to identify motifs from unaligned sequences), and the database similarity programs BLAST and FASTA
-
New programs include SeqMerge (a graphical X-windows interface for sequence contig assembly) and ClustalW (used to perform multiple sequence alignments)
More details about accessing GCG can be found here.
