Subject: TRANSFAC ® upgraded from version 6.2 to 9.2
We have made a significant upgrade to TRANSFAC ®, the transciption factor database. The new version has added the following features:
- A new table containing data from ChIP-on-chip experiments
- FACTOR entries from DATF (Database of Arabidopsis Transcription Factors)
- Integrated latest versions of Match and Patch that can be used to search for potential regulatory elements in genomic DNA sequences
The number of entries in the database has grown considerably. Below are the current statistics:
| Table |
Description |

| FACTOR |
Transcription factors, proteins that regulate gene transcription by sequence-specific interaction with DNA, and their interacting proteins. |

| GENE |
Genes with transcription factor binding sites (regulated genes) and/or genes encoding for transcription factors. (Also genes connected to one of our other databases.) |

| MATRIX |
Nucleotide distribution matrices for the binding sites of a transcription factor. |
